Drug Testing Supplies for Sober Living Homes

Regular drug and alcohol testing is one of the simplest ways a sober living home keeps residents accountable and the house safe. Drug Tests Direct supplies recovery residences with instant urine drug test cups and single-drug strips at bulk prices, so you can test as often as your house rules require without the cost adding up.

Why sober living homes test

Most sober living and recovery residences test on move-in, at random, and whenever there is reasonable suspicion. Frequent, unannounced testing is what makes the policy work: residents know a test can come at any time, and staff get an objective answer in minutes instead of waiting days on a lab.

  • Move-in screening to confirm a resident arrives substance-free.
  • Random testing, often weekly, to support accountability.
  • For-cause testing when behavior, missed curfews or other signs raise a concern.
  • Alcohol monitoring with EtG strips, since standard drug cups do not test for alcohol.

What to test for

A 12 panel cup covers the substances most houses screen for. Many homes add alcohol (EtG), kratom (KRA) and K2 / Spice, because these are common relapse substances that older, standard panels miss. Choosing a cup that already includes them saves running a second test.

Keeping the cost per test low

Our cups and strips are priced by volume: the more you order, the less each test costs, with tiers at 25, 50, 75 and 100 units. Houses that test weekly usually order a case of 100 cups at a time and keep a box of EtG strips on hand. Orders placed before 3pm ship the same day, so you are never left without tests.

Tips for a testing policy that works

  • Put the testing policy in the house agreement residents sign at move-in, including what happens after a preliminary positive.
  • Test at random times and days so testing cannot be predicted.
  • Check the temperature strip within 4 minutes of collection to help catch substituted samples.
  • Log every result with the date, staff member and cup lot number.
  • Send any disputed preliminary positive to a lab for confirmation before making a housing decision.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a sober living home drug test?

Many houses test on move-in and then randomly about once a week, plus any time there is a reason for concern. Follow your own house rules and any requirements from your state or certifying organization.

Do drug test cups detect alcohol?

Standard panels do not, but our 12, 13, 14, 16 and 18 panel cups include EtG, which detects recent alcohol use. You can also add a separate EtG strip to any test.

Which cup is best for sober living?

The 12 panel cup is the most economical for routine testing. If kratom or K2 / Spice are concerns in your house, the 13 panel cup covers both.

How fast are the results?

Results are ready in about 5 minutes. Read them before 10 minutes have passed.
