- Specimen: urine
- Results: read at 5 minutes
- Status: Forensic use only (not for clinical diagnosis)

How to use a COT dip test strip
- Collect the urine sample in a clean, dry cup.
- Open the sealed pouch and hold the strip by the top end.
- Dip the strip into the urine with the arrows pointing down for 10 to 15 seconds. Do not go past the MAX line.
- Lay the strip flat on a clean, dry surface.
- Read the result at 5 minutes. Do not read results after 10 minutes.
Reading the result
- Negative: two lines, one at the control (C) region and one at the test (T) region. Even a faint T line counts as negative.
- Preliminary positive: only the C line appears.
- Invalid: no C line. Retest with a new strip.
Always follow the package insert. A preliminary positive should be confirmed by a laboratory test (such as GC/MS).
